Karen Sue Sanderson

December 23, 1962 - October 13, 2021

Karen Sue (nee Fogarasi) Sanderson, age 58, of Almont, and formerly of Sterling Heights, Michigan, died October 13, 2021. She was born December 23, 1962 in Garden City, Michigan to the late Charles and Patricia (nee Gardner) Fogarasi. Loving wife of Larry Dean Sanderson Jr., dear mother of Jennifer (Bill) Marriott, Steve Sanderson (Hillary Procunier), and the late Todd Sanderson. Proud Nana of Ava and Ethan. Beloved sister of Terri Francis, Mike (Caren) Fogarasi, Kim (Roger) Moore, Larry Jewell, Lori Fowler, and JoAnn Hayward. Daughter in law of Larry (Barb) Sanderson, and the late Barbara (the late Rudy) Arendt. Sister in law of: Dale Sanderson, Monika (Joe) Schuller, Shannon Sanderson Coates, Bill (Candace) Sanderson and Scott (Ally) Arendt. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Karen was a good-hearted, truthful individual who made an impression on anyone she met. Karen met the love of her life, Skip, while he was on a hunting trip in Hubbard Lake, Michigan. They were married June 20, 1981 in Lincoln, Michigan. Although she died young, they were married for over 40 happy years. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt to many nieces and nephews and most importantly a loving nana. Karen enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved cooking, crafting, completing stained glass, and taking long rides in the Jeep with her husband. Often, they would leave for a ride and end up along a lake, river or simply stop and watch the freighters traveling through Port Huron. Many times they would end up at the Turkey Roost for a home cooked meal while heading north to Hubbard Lake to enjoy the family property with loved ones. Karen also loved her weekly sister lunches and Sunday family dinners with Skip, Steven and Hillary, Jennifer and Bill, and her two grandchildren, Ava and Ethan. Karen took great pride in her work. She loved working with kids of all ages in the various schools she worked in throughout her career. She retired in 2020 from the Utica Community School System as an Administrative Assistant. She made friends within the community and built lasting friendships. Visitation is Friday, October 22nd from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks east of Van Dyke Avenue) Utica. Her Funeral Service will be held, Saturday, October 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
