Marilyn Leideker

February 16, 1928 - April 2, 2022

Marilyn Marty (Ohlsen) Leideker 1928-2022 Marilyn Marty (Ohlsen) Leideker, 94, of Macomb County, Michigan, passed away on April 2, 2022, the daughter of Joseph J. and Ruth E. (Lueck) Ohlsen. She was born on February 16, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan. Marilyn met her husband, Joseph Leideker at a Tip-Toppers dance in Detroit. They were married on December 4, 1948, in a candlelight ceremony at Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica. A graduate of Utica High School in 1946, Marilyn graduated from the Detroit Business School, and was employed at Selfridge Air Force Base as a secretary in Personnel. Returning to her alma mater in 1973, she worked as a secretary in the offices of Utica High School for 20+ years before retirement. Always interested in creative arts, Marilyn was a talented seamstress, an avid decorative painter, loved to crochet and made beautiful hand-beaded bracelets. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and her painted Santas and tree ornaments were frequent gifts for all. Marilyn also loved to play Yahtzee with everyone at every gathering. Her parents, husband Joseph and son Gary preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Kathy (Bob) Young, Wayne (Janet) Leideker, Carolyn (Craig) Morehouse, two daughters-in-law, Ronda Leideker and Sandra Leideker. She had eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and many, many friends. Marilyn's trust and faith in the Lord was steadfast and never-wavering. She was incredibly kind and loving to all; a remarkably strong and resilient woman, mother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation on Wednesday, April 6, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Directors, 8459 Hall Rd., Utica, 48317. Funeral service at Wm. Sullivan and Son on Thursday, April 7, at 11:00 am with visitation 1 hour prior to service. A graveside committal service will follow the procession to Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Clinton Township with Pastor Jeffrey Draeger officiating. Memorials in Marilyn's name may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 8600 27 Mile Rd, Washington, MI 48094.
