Marvin Max Himmler

Marvin (Marv) Max Himmler of Shelby Township, Michigan went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the age of 89. Marv was born on April 12, 1933 in Wenona, Illinois to Rev. Herbert and Ella (nee Strauch) Himmler. As a fourth generation Lutheran Church worker, he touched thousands of young lives in the classroom and was regarded as a greatly respected and admired teacher. He was called to serve at St. John Fraser (Michigan), St. John LaPorte (Indiana), Trinity Utica (Michigan), and Lutheran High North Macomb (Michigan). Many lives have been impacted as he coached several sports and directed the highly admired school band at Trinity Utica. He chose to glorify God by leading many adult Bible classes and singing in the Men's Choir. Marv was an accomplished woodworker, a talented craftsman, and a skilled handyman. He displayed his God given abilities to build a car, several boats, and numerous beautiful pieces of art. As a faithful servant of God, he loved to help others and didn't hesitate to lend a hand to those in need. He had a deep love for his family and was a great role model for everyone who knew him. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ella Himmler, as well as his younger brother Arthur Himmler. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Margaret (Ream) Himmler, whom he married on July 9th, 1955 in Mio, Michigan. He is also survived by his children and their spouses: Sharon (Thomas) Reband, Gary (Kelly) Himmler, and Laura (Charles) Rink. Marv was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister and her husband, Pauline (Gene) Harsted, and his sister-in-law, Noi Himmler. Family will receive friends for visitation Friday, October 21st from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks east of Van Dyke Avenue, on the northside of Hall Road) Utica. Saturday, October 22nd he will lie in state at 10:00 a.m. until time of his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 45160 Van Dyke Avenue, Utica. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Win Graebner Scholarship Fund, 45160 Van Dyke Avenue, Utica, Michigan 48317 or the Haiti Lutheran Missionary Society.
