Maxine Ilene Socha

Maxine I. Socha, a woman of unwavering faith, a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on September 28, 2023, at the age of 94. Maxine is survived by her loving children, Gail (Vince) Minauro and Peggy (Barry) Upton, her adoring grandchildren, Jennifer Morgan and Douglas (Jennifer) Upton, as well as her great-grandchildren, Georgia, Graham, and Greta Morgan, and Everly and Blake Upton, who will forever carry her spirit forward. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in eternal rest, Maxine is reunited with her beloved husband, Harold Richard Socha, who passed away in 2000. She joins her parents, Fred and Amelia Helm, and her siblings, Fay (Charles) Schleutker, Arthur (Dona) Helm, and Marvin Helm, in heavenly peace. Maxine was a woman of many talents, especially when it came to her sewing abilities. Her daughters, Gail and Peggy, were the recipients of her creativity, often adorned in matching ensembles lovingly made by Maxine herself. She had a painter's touch, bringing life to canvases with every brushstroke, and her crochet work was nothing short of artistry. Her green thumb found solace in gardening, and her bountiful garden was a testament to her dedication and love for nature. Maxine was also known for her culinary skills; her delicious meals brought joy and warmth to gatherings with family and friends. Maxine eagerly embraced family trips, be it up north or out of state, making each journey a memorable experience for all. Maxine's legacy is one of faith, love, and boundless creativity. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 3-8pm at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks East of Van Dyke), Utica. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 45160 Van Dyke Ave, in Utica, instate 10:30am until the time of the service at 11:30am. The family would like to invite everyone to a luncheon immediately following the services which will be held at the church. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made out to, Trinity Community Care, Trinity Lutheran Church, or Accent Care Hospice.
