Neva Johnstone

June 13, 1943 - May 29, 2021

Neva Anne Johnstone, a truly Beautiful Lady, inside and out, and an amazing person in so many ways that words cannot describe, passed away Saturday, May 29th, 2021 at age 77. She was born June 13th, 1943 in Dickinson County (Tarpon), VA, a place she forever loved, to Frank and Veulah Stallard and later married the love of her life, Don Johnstone, February 6th, 1997. Neva loved life more than most and always recognized the beauty in even the smallest things in this life, whether it be in nature, her surroundings, people she met along the way, animals she cared for and especially in all those she loved. Her love was a love that everyone should know and experience in this life. Although she didn't realize, her life was a living example of a Bible verse we should all live by, Ephesians 4:32 - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ." Anyone who knew her knows this about her and how amazing she was at forgiving others, so easily, that she was wronged by and so truly compassionate in every way. She was very fond of butterflies, dragonflies, hummingbirds, ladybugs, turtles, frogs, plants, flowers, trees, rocks, mountains, streams and more and truly loved being outdoors. She was passionate about growing plants and that love turned into a career at Elias Brothers Restaurants as they began having atriums at many of their restaurants and she traveled to help set all that up for them and then maintained them all from there as their personal horticulturist. In later years she became an avid collector of dolls and barbies. She also loved recreating them down to the finest detail with their makeup, hair and clothing and was amazing at it to a level of artistry. Neva is survived by her husband, Don Johnstone, a wonderful man who loved her beyond words and cared for her in a way that most could only hope for. They were inseparable and made a beautiful life together. We are forever thankful he came into her life and ours. She is also survived by her son, Scott Atchison and his love, Corey Trombley, her daughter, Vicki Kolomyjec and her husband, Dennis Kolomyjec, her stepson, Michael Kirtley, and her stepdaughter, Angela Witt and grandsons Daniel, Michael and Wesley Witt. She adopted into her life, another daughter, Zaneta Brown and her love, Greg Saenz and two grandchildren, Lana and Gregory who brought so much love, joy and happiness to her life. Neva chose to have a memorial and asked that we celebrate her life and we ask that you join us on her birthday, June 13th, 2021 at her son, Scott's restaurant/bar, Abbibo, 76 Macomb Place, Mt. Clemens, MI 48043. Note that there is a larger parking area in the back of the restaurant off of New Street along with additional parking throughout the downtown district. There is a capacity limit and we hope this range of time in the day will help. There will be food for everyone, although the drinks will be cash bar.
