Roger Stone Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Roger Howard "Rocky" Stone, age 83, of Rochester Hills, passed away on February 6, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Deborah Stone, and his earlier predeceased wife, Beverly J. Stone. Loving father of Jane (Paul) Simonson and the late Roger Howard Stone Jr. Proud grandfather of Rachel (Adam) Shissler, Sarah Stone, Nakota Stone, Connor (Julia) Winther, Miranda Winther, Joe Simonson, and William Simonson; and great-grandfather of Vayla "Running Fawn" Shissler. Dear brother of Ricky (Donna) Fancher, Lauralie (Randy) Novak, and the late Carol Metcalf. Roger was born in Detroit, MI. He was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Army as part of both the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions. Back home here in Michigan, he enjoyed a long career with Chrysler as a tool and die maker. In his free time, Roger was an avid hunter, beekeeper, gunsmith, and pilot. As a well-known beekeeper, he was the person who the authorities would call whenever a bee hive needed to be removed from a home. He was also skilled enough to make his own guns and ammunition, and he owned and regularly piloted a 1946 Ercoupe that he flew in and out of his residence at Home Acres Sky Ranch, as well as down to his residence in Hudson, Florida. Roger was also a licensed builder who bought, fixed up, and rented out over twenty homes over the years. He also enjoyed collecting and rebuilding vintage tractors and Honda motorcycles. Roger lived an interesting and exciting life, was deeply loved, and will be dearly missed. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, February 9, at 1:00 p.m. at Oakview Cemetery, 1032 N.
