Bill Budry Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

William Robert Budry, age 89, of Royal Oak, passed away on May 29, 2021. Bill was the beloved husband of his wife Iris for 71 years. Loving father of Bill and Debra, Steve and Debbie, Kerry and Robin, and Jeff and Lori. Proud grandfather of ten, great-grandfather of twenty eight and great-great-grandfather of one. Bill worked for the Detroit News (later Gannett) for his entire 50 year career. He started his career as a paper boy and finished as a district manager. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and traveling. He and Iris did everything together, including traveling the world, and it was hard for their family to keep up with where they would always be next. Bill was all about his family and especially enjoyed spending time with them. Regular gatherings at the family-built cabin made for special memories over the years, as did a special baseball game that Bill and Iris hosted each year at their home. And, unsurprisingly, spending time with his grandchildren was always high on his list. Bill was deeply loved, returned the same, and will be dearly missed. Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 3, from 2 - 4 for family members and open to all from 4 - 8 p.m. There will be a short service at 6:30 p.m. at Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd. (4 blocks east of Woodward), Royal Oak.
