Angie DeMuynck

On Wednesday December 14, 2022, our beloved Angie DeMuynck passed away after her eight-month battle with cancer. Angie DeMuynck was born, Angela Maria Schmaltz, on February 23, 1980. She was the first daughter of Thomas and Mary Kay Schmaltz and the oldest granddaughter of the late Earnest & Wilma Schmaltz and the late Anthony & Ann Mendola. Angie was a beacon of light with a heart and soul that will forever go unmatched. She put her family first and was always surrounded by those that she loved most. Angie’s biggest passion was her family. Growing up she had her older brother Jeremy always there to protect her and her younger sister AnneMarie (Ammi) to help guide through life. Angie loved spending time with her siblings, especially when their mom and dad were out of town. She loved watching her children excel in school and their after-school activities. She loved watching Anthony draw the most amazing pieces of artwork. She loved watching both of her boy’s kick-butt in karate. She loved watching Alexander play chess and baseball, never missing a game. She loved watching Addison show off her gymnastics throughout the living room every day, tumbling around or doing handstands next to the couch. Angie also loved her nephews and niece, watching them grow up and begin telling funny stories always brought a smile to her face. Watching Brandon play baseball, Liam question and want to see everything that was new to him, Jeremy be the ultimate boy with no shirt on, having Joey cuddle up on her lap, and even helping Maya mix cookie dough for Christmas cookies; these were the times Angie lived for when it came to her family. Angie’s greatest love and best friend is her husband, Alex. Angie and Alex were married on November 13, 2010, at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Eastpointe, Michigan. After meeting through a mutual friend Angie fell head over heels in love. They were inseparable, where one was the other would follow. They were a match made in heaven and enjoyed many of the same things, taking trips, movies, and music. If they did not agree on something they always found a way to compromise. Angie loves Alex 3000 and there is nothing that could ever change that. Angie graduated from Warren Mott High School and was a Loan Delivery Specialist for United Wholesale Mortgage. While Angie loved her job and the company she worked for, she always held a special place in her heart for another unofficial job, Disney World Vacation Planner, and she was the best at it. Angie would spend hours online and on the phone with Disney planning every moment of the perfect family vacation. She ensured that the right dinner reservations were made for the right days, especially for ‘Ohana. She would write out the packing lists and begin setting items aside for the road trip down to Florida, six months before it was even time to leave, if she could have, she would have left the moment the trip was a thought in her mind. Angie left no stone unturned when it came to Disney World, every box was checked before they would pull out of the driveway. When Angie was not planning for Disney, she was preparing for the next camping trip to Algonac or Sleeper State Park. Sitting around a campfire surrounded by family and friends was always the highlight to Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Halloween camping. She made sure to always have the S’mores packed first. Once the weather would break in the spring, Angie would be all over her husband to get the pool open, because when Angie wasn’t planning a trip, she could always be found lounging around or in the pool with music playing throughout the backyard. Fall might have been Angie’s favorite season, but she loved the sunshine equally as much. Angie loved music, she loved going to concerts, she was no stranger to the occasional Def Leppard show and Pine Knob, she loved movies, and going to the drive-in, and Angie loved to cook, always saving a separate bowl of Cannoli cream just for KayO.
