Betty Jane (Janie) Goodrich

Betty Jane (Janie) Gross Pineau Goodrich, age 81, passed away December 31, 2024. She was born August 7, 1943 to William Gross and Etna MacTaggart, who both preceded her in death. Janie married Francis (Frank) Pineau in Royal Oak, MI in 1962, who preceded her in death in 1993. She married James Thomas Goodrich on September 12, 1998. She is survived by her 2nd husband, James Thomas Goodrich; children Ann (Larry) Brown, Diane (Robert) Eldridge, Frank (Crista Allen); step-children, James (Caroline), Lisa (Michael) Klick, Cindy (Richard) Read, Brandon (Annalisa); grandchildren Kyle, Ryan, and McKenna; step-grandchildren, Brighid (Matt) Stone, Cailin, James, Brenna, Juliet, Haley, Mable Rose, and Truman; and sisters, Nancy (Edward) Wood, and Patricia (Bruce) Chatterson; and her many Pineau and Goodrich in-laws whom she loved dearly. Mom was quite crafty. Over the years, she enjoyed ceramics, macrame, crochet, cake decorating, and creating dry flower arrangements. She loved to dance, even taking country line dance classes. She is a former member of the Berkley Jaycees. She loved spending time with family, especially the grandkids. She was a homemaker until the late 70s when she decided to enter the work force and become a data entry clerk. Over the years, she worked her way up to an AS400 programmer for Jared Brown Brothers, finishing out her career with Georgia-Pacific. She loved to laugh and joke and play little pranks. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mom's favorite color was purple so please feel free to join us in wearing some form of purple to the service, or on the day of if you're not able to attend. Visitation and service will be held Saturday January 11 Royal Oak First United Methodist Church 320 W. 7th Street, Royal Oak •VISITATION at 10:00 am •SERVICE at 11:00 am •Light lunch served after In lieu of flowers, donations in Janie's honor would be deeply appreciated at one (or both) of the following: Royal Oak First United Methodist Outreach on 7th , which provides services to people experiencing food insecurity and homelessness in the community, offering a hot lunch and a bagged meal every weekday, year-round. In addition, a clothing closet and an essentials pantry are available. The Children’s Center in Detroit, which is home to many specialized clinical services provided at no charge to families with children who deal with behavioral, emotional, educational, intellectual and developmental challenges or may have experienced trauma.
