Doris Mae Wilson

With hearts full of love and sorrow, our family announces the passing of Doris Mae Wilson of Clawson Michigan. She was born on March 1,1929 in Detroit to Alfred and Helen (Baker) Rock. Doris married Arthur Lee "Jim" Wilson on Dec 21, 1946, a loving union that lasted 53 years until Jim passed in 1999. Doris was a woman whose life was nothing short of magical. Born during the Great Depression and shaped by the changing times, Doris carried an inner strength that was always softened by her kindness, her warmth, and her unwavering respect for every person she met. She moved through the world gently, speaking with love-other than when she won at Bingo! Doris's greatest joy came from her family. She poured her heart into her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with her whole heart, and made them each feel truly seen and special. Lives were brightened by her during everyday moments-tiny hands covered in dirt from outdoor adventures, afternoons spent playing dress-up or Tonka trucks, rolling playdough, or inventing little worlds that she created right alongside us. She didn't just watch life happen from the sidelines, she lived in those moments with us, laughing, imagining, and reminding us what it meant to be loved without condition. Her tenderness extended far beyond people. Doris's love for animals was enchanting. Wild and injured animals seemed to recognize the safety of her presence, appearing on her back deck every night, literally knocking on her door. She fed them scraps of dinner-or sometimes graham crackers-and watched over them with the same care she gave her family. To witness her with these little creatures was to see who she was at her core: gentle, patient, and full of kindness. Doris's home was more than a place-it was a refuge. It was where tears were dried, scraped knees were soothed, and cake or coffee fixed almost anything. Whether it was Christmas in Clawson or summertime on Wiggins Lake, she welcomed everyone who walked through her door with a smile, a hug, and a sense of belonging. She taught us how to love in the way she lived. She showed compassion, dignity, and respect in everything she did. She taught us to value all things, especially if duct tape could fix them. The loss of Doris leaves an ache that will be felt through every branch of our family tree. And yet, her presence remains-with every memory, every story, and every moment she lived with joy. Doris is survived by her daughter Julie Gird of Clawson, who lovingly cared for her in her home, her son Jim (Tina) of White Lake, her son Bob (Mary Anne) of Dryden, grandchildren Jessica, Adam (Amy), Aaron (Sara), Desiree (Scott), Kyle (Kelsey), Becky, and Charlie, and her great grandchildren: Aidan, Evan, Brady, Layla, Ciara, Leo, Olivia, Brandon, Maddex, Travis, Bodhi. A celebration of Doris' life will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, gathering from 11:00 a.m. until her service at 1:00 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 705 W.
