Evelyn Alice Stieg

Evelyn Alice Stieg (nee Brauer), age 96, resident of Utica, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 in Shelby Township, Michigan. Evelyn was born on April 19, 1925 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to the late Rev. Carl A. and Alice (nee Eifert) Brauer. Her father was a pastor for over 50 years at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ann Arbor, where she became active in her younger years. She married the love of her life Dr. Raymond E. Stieg D.D.S on August 26, 1950, they were married for over 50 years before Raymond's passing on September 18, 2002. Evelyn and Raymond made their home in Utica, Michigan where her husband would establish his dental practice. Evelyn attended college at Eastern Michigan University, Valparaiso University and graduated from University of Michigan. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church-Utica since 1954 were she was active in the Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Golden Circle, the choir, hand bells, Bible classes, and many other activities. Evelyn was an active family historian, and documented the Brauer family history dating back several generations. She helped organize and attend various Brauer family reunions where relatives came from all over the United States and Europe. She is the loving wife of the late Dr. Raymond E. Stieg D.D.S., cherished mother of Sue (Dale) Hurttgam, Shari (Tim) Donley, Bob Stieg, and Sandy (Dr. Tim Berka M.D.) Berka. Proud Nana of Nicki (Phil) Wargo, Julie Hurttgam, Daria (Paul) Knight, the late Tim Hurttgam, Tiffanie (Eddie) Lohr, Stacey Donley, Kyle (Alexis) Donley, Meghan Berka, Brandon (Jacqueline) Berka, Alex Berka, and Breanna (Osmar) Gomez. Dearest Great-Nana of Tai, Keecie, Lily, Luke, Lexi, Tyson, Linus, Yulianna, Julissa, and one great-grandchild on the way. Sister of Lois (the late Robert) Breseman and the late Carl (the late Isabelle) Brauer. Sister-in-law of Elinor (the late Robert) Olsen, the late Dorothy (the late Jack) Soltman and the late Harold (the late Annette) Stieg. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
