Howard H. Hughes, a devoted husband, loving father, proud Navy Veteran, and pillar of the community, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the age of 87. He was born on June 29, 1936, in Miami, Florida, to the late Harold J. Hughes and Elsa J. Wollens. In 1955, Howard embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship when he married the love of his life, Ellen Krutz, in Detroit. Their union was marked by a deep and enduring bond that served as an inspiration to all who knew them. A dedicated servant to his country, Howard took great pride in his service as a Navy Veteran. His commitment and sacrifice are a testament to his unwavering dedication to the ideals he held dear. After his honorable discharge, Howard pursued his entrepreneurial spirit, establishing his own Automotive Supply Company. He worked tirelessly, pouring his heart and soul into his business until he could no longer do so. His legacy in the automotive industry will be remembered by colleagues and friends alike. Outside of work, Howard was a man of diverse passions. He reveled in the pursuit of hunting, finding solace and purpose in the great outdoors. He was equally devoted to giving back to his community, volunteering his time and energy to causes close to his heart. Howard leaves behind his cherished son, Lance, and beloved grandson, Tristan. Their lives have been enriched by his wisdom, love, and guidance. He is reunited in eternal peace with his beloved wife, Ellen, daughter, Dana, and his parents, Harold and Elsa. Sullivan and Son Funeral Directors (8459 Hall Road, Utica, MI, 48317) on Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A poignant funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m., as we gather to honor Howard's memory. In accordance with his wishes, Howard will find his final resting place at Forest Lawn Cemetery at a later date, where he will forever rest in peace.
