Janet Schroeder

Janet Joy Schroeder, baptized child of God, joined the Church Triumphant on December 13, 2025. Throughout her 80 years, she trusted the promise of her Lord Jesus Christ: "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even though he dies." (John 11:25) In His abundant love, God gave Janet (née Lipske) and Roger to one another in Holy Marriage for 52 years. They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica, Michigan, where they made their church home for many years. Janet and Roger shared an abiding faith in Christ and a deep love for one another. They were inseparable, a true team in every sense of the word. God blessed them with two children, Susan and Linda (Brendan), who attended Trinity Lutheran School. God also richly blessed Janet and Roger with two grandchildren, Colum and Charlotte, who brought Janet great joy. Faith and family were the center of Janet's life from an early age. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, to her parents, Herold and Lydia Lipske, who diligently taught Janet and her sisters, Ruth and Lenore, about their Savior, Jesus Christ. Janet attended Muskegon High School and went on to Concordia Ann Arbor before earning her bachelor's degree from Concordia River Forest. She was a teacher who taught second grade for nine years before dedicating herself fully to raising her daughters as a loving and devoted mother. Janet found joy in sewing, including cross-stitch and quilting. She loved birds and could identify many by their songs. She also enjoyed a good crossword puzzle or an online game of Words with Friends. Those closest to Janet will agree that she loved a good laugh and was a true sweetheart-which may have had something to do with all of the chocolate-covered cherries and ice cream that vanished in her presence. Soli Deo Gloria. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 3-8 pm at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home (8459 Hall Rd, Utica, MI) and on Friday, December 19, from 11 am until the time of the funeral 12 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church (45160 Van Dyke Ave, Utica, MI). Burial will take place at Utica Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to Trinity Lutheran Church & School (Utica, Michigan) - Win Graebner Scholarship Fund.
