Jerome Pitts

Jerome Pitts was born to the union of James and Laura Pitts, on February 25, 1963 in Detroit, Michigan. Both parents preceded him in death. Jerome fought gallantly to survive from August 2, 2018, until his untimely transition from this earthly plane at 8:02 p.m. on September 20, 2022. His last words to family members were: "I just want to be able to go home to my family." Jerome loved traveling, fishing, music, movies of all genres, baking and cooking full course meals. He was the self-proclaimed "Yam and Grill Master." He was the walking historian of the Cunningham/Pitts family. Moreover, he was a profound teacher and motivator to his family, friends and colleagues. Over the years Jerome embarked on a few career opportunities, varying from Construction Laborer through his most recent positions in medical transportation services. Jerome was also an aspiring entrepreneur and owned a growing landscaping and grounds maintenance business. Jerome leaves to cherish/honor his memory one aunt, Martha Sample; two brothers, James (Andrea) Pitts and Benjamin Gary (Gwendolyn) Pitts; his children, Angie Winters, James-Jamal (Elizabeth) Pitts, Raven Pitts, Quentin Pitts and Jerayll Pitts; five grandchildren; and his soulmate, Wiltrice Rogers. Friends that were as close as family include Anthony Cook, EJ (Gwen) Chauney and Mike (Jennifer) Williams. He also leaves a host of nephews, a niece, cousins, and friends who will truly miss him. One son preceded him in death, Jerome Jr. (Rhianna) Pitts. In The Book of Job, Job asked a central question. If an able-bodied man dies, can he live again. In answer to his own question, Job said to God: You will call and I, myself will answer you from the grave. Job thus showed faith in the resurrection. Our chief priest, Jesus Christ told us that there's going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous, when all of those in the memorial tombs will hear His voice and come out to a resurrection of life. Our entire extended family looks forward to that resurrection of the last day when we will all see our beloved Jerome Pitts once again.
