Juanita Addison

Juanita Davis Addison was born on December 11, 1946, to Augusta Davis in Birmingham, AL; raised by Joseph and Augusta Allen. Juanita was the fourth of five children. She moved to Detroit as a young child with her family. Juanita attended Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Pershing High School in 1965. Attending community college to gain clerical skills. Juanita worked for National Bank of Detroit for 25 years where she built lifelong friendships. Juanita also worked at Lanier Worldwide until retirement in 2008. She accepted Christ early in life, attending church every Sunday until her health began to decline as a member of New Prospect and Mt. Charity. Juanita married the late William Addison Sr in 1966. To this union, three children were born Shirlethia, Bonita (Anthony), and William Jr. Her children were her greatest joy. Juanita enjoyed arts and crafts. You name it, she could make it; from invitations, birthday cards, knitting & crotcheting, sewing, jewelry making and so much more. Juanita was the Queen of Creativity. She also spent many nights playing video games beating Super Mario Brothers and Zelda repeatedly. Juanita enjoyed traveling, frequenting places such as Key West, Cozumel, Alaska, Las Vegas, Tennessee, and various casinos. Juanita loved spending time with her family. In 2008, she brought her family together for Sunday dinners. These dinners are still going strong every Sunday for the past 12 years. Her devotion to her family went as far as researching her ancestry and organizing the first Augusta Allen family reunion. After many years of surviving illness, Juanita made her transition to Heaven on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 peacefully and dignified surrounded by her loved ones. Preceding Juanita in death are her parents; Augusta & Joseph, siblings; Shirley, Floyd, & Jessie, grandson Christjan, and a very dear friend Barbara Eskridge. She leaves to cherish in her loving memory, daughters Shirlethia & Bonita (Anthony), son William, sister Josephine (Rhodda), brother in laws; John Gaines & David Addison, grandchildren; Geneva, Latrice (Jereice), Tameka (Harlin Sr.), Tynisha (Cecil), Anthony, Timothy, Terrance (Maria), and Theresa, great granchildren; Ciyah, Devyn, Harlin Jr., Tristan, Sir Alex, Kai, Conner, Danny, and Tracen, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In my Father’s house are many dwelling places, if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2 Visitation will take place Monday, March 9, from 2 - 8 p.m. at Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd., Royal Oak (4 blocks east of Woodward). Funeral service will take place Tuesday, March 10, at 11:00 am. at Mt. Charity Baptist Church, 32232 Joy Rd., Detroit. Memorial contributions to Karmanos Cancer Institute are appreciated.
