Kathryn M. Shekoski

Kathryn M. Shekoski, age 60 of Sterling Heights, passed away January 30, 2015 at her residence. Beloved mother of Robert Orzechowski, Steven Stephanie Orzechowski and Lisa Eric Simpson. Loving grandmother of Gregory, Gabby, Aria and Christopher. Dear daughter of Cassie Nowicki and the late Adalbert D. Nowicki. Dear sister of Karen Carl Kraiza, Kenneth Nowicki and Nancy Dave Marosi. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Regardless of where Kathryn worked, where she was in life, or who was around her, Kathryn impacted the lives of people and forever changed them. She was the kind of person who left footprints in the hearts of people. Selfless and altruistic, it was common for her to do whatever she could for those she loved and cared about. More often than not, it would be something that was not asked or expected and those who know her knew she would put herself at an inconvenience to help others. Kathryn loved spending time with those she loved. This includes but by no means is limited to family, co-workers, neighbors, friends, and friends of family. She enjoyed doing things with and for her grandchildren whenever it was possible. Many hours were spent cooking and she always enjoyed trying new recipes and sharing them with others, often making it a point to drop them off herself to spend some time with loved ones. She also enjoyed gardening and Kathryn took great pride in her flora both indoors and outdoors. She would frequently go to visit a loved one and spend time nursing a neglected or ill-nourished plant back to health, even going so far as to check up on it until things were back to normal. She was also an avid book reader. She enjoyed discussing all kinds of books with her friends and family, encouraging people to read books she thought they could relate to, and Kathryn was known to personally give books away to people if she felt it was a good idea.
