Kathy Childs

Kathy Childs, born on January 30th, 1954, passed away on April 27th, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Married to her beloved husband of 26 years, John Childs. Daughter of William and Elsie Stover. Loving mother to four children, Christopher (Irene) Childs, Autum (Paul) Manelis, John (Kelly) See, and Mike (Tabitha) See. Cherished Nana to Jessica, Vanessa, Ava, Parker, Mya, Ella, and Scarlett. Dear Sister to Tim (Pat) Stover, Roxie (Wayne) Tanis, and Rhonda (David) VanStempvoort. Kathy was a beautiful woman of many accomplishments. She graduated as salutatorian of her class in high school and went on to receive a full scholarship to Wayne State University, where she earned her Master's Degree in Social Work. Kathy had a long and fulfilling career, working as a social worker where she helped those in jails, schools, and nursing homes. She was undoubtably brilliant, but she had wisdom that was so frightening and glorious, the world was not always ready for it, but needed it. Kathy had a deep and intimate love for Jesus, and her faith was evident in all aspects of her life. She had a vibrant personality and could light up any room with her infectious smile and positive energy. Her strength and determination were unmatched, and she would go to bat for anyone, always advocating for those she loved, never backing down from what is right. Kathy and her husband, John, shared a love of travel and visited all seven continents together. Despite her many accomplishments, Kathy always remained grounded and never forgot the importance of family. She loved and honored her mother and father, and her devotion to her children and grandchildren was unwavering. Kathy was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of so many. Her passing is deeply felt by her family and friends, but her legacy will continue to shine bright in the lives of those who knew and loved her. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023 from 10:00am until the time of the service at 11:00am at Shelby Bible Church, located at 47905 Hayes Rd. Shelby Township, MI 48315. The family would also like to invite you to a luncheon at Cranks Catering Banquet Center, located at 46915 Hayes Rd. Shelby Township, MI 48315, which will take place at 12:00pm, immediately following the memorial service.
