Dr. Mary S. Angeles

In Loving Memory of Mary Stankovich Angeles (née Mosteller) June 2, 1941 - December 4, 2023 With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Mary Stankovich Angeles, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, educator, and woman of faith, on December 4, 2023. She was 82 years old. Mary was born on June 2, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, to Richard and Josephine Mosteller. She graduated from the University of Detroit in 1964, with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. She later pursued her master's degree in mathematics and culminated her educational career with her Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2010. Mary married Stan Stankovich on June 12, 1964, and they shared a loving marriage for almost 31 years, until his passing in March of 1995. They had one daughter, Jodi, who was the joy of their lives. Mary was also a proud and loving grandmother to four grandchildren, Nick, Libby, Adam, and Sarah, who adored and cherished her. In 1997, Mary married Roger Angeles, who became her constant companion until his passing in September of 2021. Roger brought more happiness and laughter into Mary's life. They enjoyed dancing and music, and spending time with their grandchildren. Mary was also a wonderful grandmother to Roger's grandchildren, RG, Victoria, Jacob, Matthew, Ethan, Mia, and Marielle, who affectionately called her Lola Mary. Although she worked in the private sector for many years, Mary's true passion was teaching. She taught everything from elementary school to university. She was a respected and admired teacher, who inspired and mentored countless students and colleagues. She continued to teach until 2020, when she retired during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mary was a devout Catholic, who lived her faith with grace and humility. In 2009, she joined the Franciscan order, and dedicated herself to serving God and His people. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Community in Sterling Heights. She was a generous and compassionate woman, who always helped those in need, and touched many lives with her kindness. Mary is survived by her daughter, Jodi (Blaine) Tillander and four grandchildren, Nick (Karah Boodt) Canu, Libby, Adam and Sarah, her brother Martin Mosteller, her sister Ernie (Mike) Stafford and her brother Rich (Jody) Mosteller, as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at William Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Rd. (four blocks east of Woodward) Royal Oak. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 7 at 9:30 a.m. (visitation 9:00) at St. Michael Catholic Community, 40501 Hayes Rd., Sterling Heights.
