Nina R. Wright

Nina R. Wright, a loving wife, mother, Baba "grandmother", sister, and aunt passed away on May 13, 2023, at her home in Shelby Township, MI, at the age of 83. Nina was born on March 5, 1940, in Saint Thomas, Ontario, Canada, to her parents Michael and Anastasia (Woroby) Lokun, who instilled in her a strong sense of family and community; values that she taught to her family along with a strong work ethic and the importance of obtaining an education. Throughout her life, Nina was passionate about family, sports, flowers, and tending to her garden. In high school, Nina participated in tennis, basketball, cheerleading, and swimming. Her love of sports extended to supporting her children and grandchildren in their numerous sporting endeavors, dance recitals, and theater productions, where she was found cheering on the sidelines and in the audience. She also enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to cook, some of their favorites being soups, cabbage rolls, and carrot cake. Later in life she picked up golf and loved to play with her husband. She was very proud of her hole in one at the Glacier Club on hole number 3. Family was the most important thing in Nina's life, and she went above and beyond to support and care for those she loved. Her kind heart and selflessness were evident to anyone who knew her, and she was always the first to offer a helping hand to anyone who was in need. Nina is survived by her devoted husband, Robert N. Wright, her son Robert M. Wright, and her daughters Kim (Jim) Suchara, and Kristin (Matt) Guinn. She also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren: Erin, Dana, Xzavier, Maxxin, Maguire, and Kaidian, who will miss her dearly. Nina's sister, Helen (Dominic-deceased) DiMenna, along with many nieces and nephews, will also cherish her memory. Nina was predeceased by her parents, her sister Lydia (Peter) Karlechuk, her brothers Nick Lokun, and Peter (Terri) Lokun. Her passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, but her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on forever.
