Patricia Ann Post, age 80, passed away on January 8, 2024, and began a new journey to be with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Pat married at the young age of 18 and found her greatest love at 23 when her daughter, Tracey, was born. Early in their life, Pat and Tracey lived in Hialeah Florida. As a single mother Pat struggled in various jobs but she always found time to play Candyland and make Tracey's life as special as possible. Pat returned to her home state of Michigan where she at times worked two jobs and continued to devote herself to her daughter and others. No matter who was ever in need, Pat managed to take them in and care for them with what little she had. Her heart and home were always open. Pat was a beautiful person inside and out. She worked for a typewriter company who asked her to model for typewriter ads. Eventually she worked for W. J. Rewoldt Company where a little old lady took her under her wings and taught Pat everything about accounting. Pat continued with W. J. Rewoldt and ultimately became the COO of the company. Around 1982, Pat began a new career with Yojna, starting as a bookkeeper before earning the title of Company Controller. A self-made and self-taught woman who was very proud to break the glass ceiling in a male-dominated workforce standing shoulder to shoulder with her male counterparts. Pat's accomplishments did not come without a price. She pushed herself professionally with much success and provided a wonderful life for her daughter, however, there never really was time for herself. And yet, despite these struggles, Pat found tremendous joy in her dogs. Pat loved all animals. Her generosity to the Humane Society as well as other organizations such as Gleaners Food Bank, the Capuchin Province of St. Joesph, Forgotten Harvest, ASPCA and Wounder Warriors was endless. Pat also sponsored children in developing countries and her love touched the hearts of many there. She was a pen pal to many of them. One girl, who she sponsored from birth to her teenage years, always wrote to Pat and called her mom. To Pat her struggles were inward but her love poured outward in many ways to many. Pat is survived by her daughter, Tracey (Frank) Post-Ioli; her granddaughter, Samantha Ioli; her siblings: Bonnie (the late Michael) Hope, Kim (the late Robert) Hochberger, Kip (Jackie) Byrne Sr., and Tama (Michael) Smith. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings; Charles R. Byrne Jr. and Michelle Milley. Visitation will take place from 11:30 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass, 12:00 p.m., on Thursday January 11 at the National Shrine of the Little Basilica, 2100 Twelve Mile Rd., Royal Oak. The Mass will also be livestreamed at www.ShrineChurch.com. Entombment will take place at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Southfield.
