Paul Christopher Shailor

Paul Christopher Shailor, age 37, of Royal Oak, passed away on December 28, 2025. He married the love of his life, Amanda, on June 13, 2020, and had two beautiful children, Archibald Ernest (Archie), age 4, and Lillian Caroline (Lily), six months. He is survived by his mom, Michelle Shailor, brother, John (Dayna) Shailor, father-in-law, Jerome Peoples, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Bill Shailor, his mother-in-law, Carol Peoples, his uncle, Paul Clifford Shailor, and his grandparents, Clarence and Frances Parent. Paul attended Shrine schools from Preschool through 12th Grade and graduated in 2006. He held a B.S. in Political Science and History from Central Michigan University and earned a JD at Wayne State University Law School. He was admitted to the bar in 2014 and was currently a lawyer/principal at Kitch in the Mount Clemens office. Paul was a loving husband to Amanda and an amazing father to Archie and Lily. Whether it was going to the park, going to Cedar Point or on a Disney cruise, playing soccer, or even going on walks, Paul thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family. He constantly took pictures and videos of Archie and Lily and sent them to relatives and friends showing everyone how much he loved being a daddy. His priorities were clear and his world was defined. Paul was an observant, quiet child who was always trying to figure things out. As a man, he was the one people sought out for counsel. He always helped anyone that needed it with a steady hand and empathy. He was always honest, sometimes brutally, and had a unique perspective that many relied on. His loyalty was beyond reproach with his brother, cousins, many, many friends, and especially his wife and children. Paul was very protective of those he loved. Paul flew model airplanes when he was growing up and was part of Team USA at the World Champs in Germany in 2006. He loved movies and movie trivia, he was an avid reader, spent years regularly beating his friends and family in hobby/tabletop games, and always watched Detroit sports. He had a vast knowledge on all subjects and could converse factually and fairly with anyone about anything, even politics. Paul and Mandy hosted Christmas dinner 2025 for both their families. They decided the few days after Christmas they would stay in and just enjoy their time together as a family, playing with Archie and Lily and just being with each other. It was in their nature as a family to be filled with love and content in their lives. It is an understatement to say that Paul will be missed. He was taken from Mandy, Archie, and Lily way too young. His memory will live on in all of the lives he touched, and through all of us, making sure it lives on in his children’s lives as well. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a Sharing of Memories at 6:00 p.m. at Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Directors, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd. (4 blocks east of Woodward), Royal Oak. Paul will lie in state on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, 2100 Twelve Mile Rd., Royal Oak.
