Paul "Randy" Wells

Paul Randall "Randy" Wells, 70 of Royal Oak, Michigan beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend, died in a motor vehicle accident March 6, 2025 while visiting Fort Myers, Florida. Born on May 10, 1954 in Schenectady, New York, Randy was the son of Paul and Violet (Philebaum) Wells. His parents modeled a loving family, teaching their children to love God, to love each other, and to love and serve others. Most of his growing up was in Quincy, Massachusetts. Later, he attended St. John's Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin, graduated from Highland High School in Marengo, Ohio, and attended Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Mount Vernon, Ohio. His first management job was at Big N Department Store in Mt. Vernon, Ohio while he was in college. As a senior retail manager throughout his career, Randy mentored many young people in their first jobs and taught them to take pride in their work. He settled into a long career with Radio Shack, which was a magnet for electronic enthusiasts and nerds of all kinds. He loved solving everyday problems for moms, dads, kids, computer geeks, inventors and anyone in need of batteries. He cared about ethics and quality in his professional life. When Randy found the love of his life, Cindi Welk, he also found his church community, where they were married in 1999, for 25 years. Our Lady of La Salette Catholic Church provided them with a loving church family. Randy enjoyed giving of his time, talent and treasure to many projects such as the annual festival and served as a eucharistic minister and usher for many years. Over the years, he and Cindi loved traveling whenever they could. He also enjoyed the fellowship and service opportunities with the Knights of Columbus and the Royal Oak Police Auxiliary, where his leadership was appreciated. Randy was a fun-loving guy and he made sure his family and friends enjoyed good times together. As a kid, he enjoyed helping his mom with the cooking for parties, holidays and especially loved making the turkey at Thanksgiving. With Cindi, they carried on the traditions of both families, with fantastic Italian dishes served side by side with turkey and all the fixings. Celebrating being with those they loved was important to them both and they created many memorable happy meals together. Randy loved being outside in nature. His favorite places were on the water or on the golf course. Fishing on the lake in his boat was his idea of paradise. Taking off by himself or heading out for an expedition with his nature loving brothers, either way he was content. Although he was known to have caught a big fish here and there, he mostly enjoyed the peace and quiet and time to commune with wind, waves and wild things. He was also known for saving the beautiful trees in his neighborhood A loving provider for his family throughout his life, Randy spoke with kindness, caring and gentle humor. He loved to tell you a story and make you smile. He encouraged others with his positive spirit and was always willing to help and serve his family, friends, church and community. All that knew him can say that he definitely "Ran with perseverance the race marked out for him." (Hebrews 12:1) One friend said of him, "Randy was always on the high road giving way beyond expectations." All the while, He loved God with his whole heart and his neighbor as himself. Randy is survived by his wife, Cindi, his sisters Carol Cracraft (Don) and Joy Wells (Elizabeth Downs) and his nephews Andrew Parrott and Justin Parrott and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Violet Wells. Besides his immediate family, Randy was blessed with deep friendships, some whose children called him Uncle Randy.
