Ronald Lloyd "Crush" McKinstry June 13, 1961 - October 2, 2023 Ronnie "Crush" McKinstry, a beloved area resident and a cherished member of the community, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 2, 2023, at the age of 62. His life was marked by a strong work ethic, a passion for family and friends, and a deep love for his club. Born in Pontiac, Michigan, on June 13, 1961, Ron was the son of Ronald McKinstry and the late Barbara Armstrong McKinstry. He spent most of his life as a proud resident of Royal Oak, recently living in Hazel Park. Ronnie made his living as a skilled flooring professional, specializing in carpeting and wood flooring. He began his career at Hudson's and continued to work for various flooring companies before ultimately becoming an independent contractor for over two decades. His craftsmanship left a lasting impression in the homes and spaces he transformed. In his younger years, Ronnie had a passion for baseball and was known for his talent on the diamond. Beyond his work and sports, he had a green thumb and found joy in tending to plants and gardens, nurturing their growth and beauty. Crush was a life member of the Highwaymen MC, a club he loved being a part of. The camaraderie and bonds formed within the club were deeply meaningful to him, and he treasured every moment spent with his fellow members. Ron was a devoted father to Lisa McKinstry (Shaun Loy) and Ronald McKinstry (Amber Stephens), Jacob McKinstry, Shelby McKinstry, Chloe Ferns and he adored his grandchildren: Ronald McKinstry, Riley McKinstry, Leiana McKinstry, Jayce Elliott, and Kayden McKinstry. He was the son of Ron (Pamela) McKinstry and the late Barbara McKinstry. Ron was also a caring brother to Tom (Kathy) McKinstry, Tracey (Tom) Walker, and Terri McKinstry (Leo Rock). His niece, Shantel McKinstry, held a special place in his heart, and he thought of her like a daughter. Dear uncle of Chris McKinstry (Katie Vargas), Joseph (Trenessa) Walker, Nichole Seguin and many great nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law of the late Rick Walker. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-8 pm at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, located at 705 W. 11 Mile Rd. (4 blks E. of Woodward), Royal Oak. Crush's funeral service will take place on Friday at 11:30 am at the funeral home, followed by interment at Woodmere Cemetery, Detroit.
