Tom Stockton

Thomas Eugene Stockton August 17, 1953 - March 5, 2026 Thomas Eugene Stockton, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and legendary coach, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly. He was 72 years old. Born in Detroit on August 17, 1953, to Ina Stockton and the late Baugh Stockton, Tom grew up with a deep love for playing sports, a passion for drag racing in his younger years, and a heart for service. A proud graduate of the Warren High School Class of 1971, he went on to dedicate over 40 years of his life to Cook Industries, where he served as a respected Machinist Supervisor. Tom's passion for mentorship began on the local fields, where he spent years coaching his sons' baseball and football teams. He eventually brought that same competitive spirit and leadership to the bowling lanes. For 29 years, he served as the Stevenson High School Bowling Coach, where he became a titan in Michigan high school sports. A multiple-time State Champion Coach and Coach of the Year, Tom's dedication earned him well-deserved spots in the Michigan High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame and the Macomb County Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame. As a longtime MHSIBCA Board Member, he didn't just coach the game; he shaped the future of the sport for generations of athletes. Beyond the trophies, Tom was a man of simple, enduring passions. He was happiest when salmon fishing, especially in Frankfort, Michigan, spending an evening with friends at the bowling alley, or cruising Woodward Avenue in his classic cars. A man who truly loved to talk, Tom could find a story to share with everyone he met and was always the first person to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. Tom's greatest pride, however, was his family. He is survived by his loving wife Cindy of 52 years; his mother, Ina Stockton; his son Tom Stockton and wife April; and his cherished grandchildren, Connor and Abigail, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his son Andrew Stockton; his siblings, Bob (Mary) Stockton, Melissa (Chris) Turak, and James (Kathy) Stockton, Sister in-laws Debby Lance and Sandy Woloski; as well as a large, loving circle of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Baugh Thomas Stockton, and his sister, Linda Stockton. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, mentorship, and a reminder that a life well-lived is one spent helping others reach their full potential. His visitation will be held Friday, March 13th, 2026; from 1:00 p.m. until the time of his Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. at Wm.
