Barbara Ella Talley

Barbara Ella Talley May 4, 1931 – May 4, 2025 Barbara Ella Talley passed away peacefully on her 94th birthday, May 4, 2025. Born in Cedarville, Michigan, Barbara grew up in Detroit and graduated from Pershing High School. She was the beloved daughter of the late Eva Mae (Leach) Burns and Roy Trask Burns. Barb married her grade school sweetheart, the late Archibald Lee Talley. She was the cherished mother of Susan Ann Talley (Joseph F. Olesnavage) of Ferndale, MI, and the late Dennis Lee Talley. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Nicolle Lynn Talley of Clawson, MI; Neil Patrick Talley of Carmel, IN; Jason Norman Olesnavage (Erin Conroy) of Chicago, IL; and Katy (Patrick) Barrett of Torrance, CA. Her legacy also lives on through her great-grandchildren: Hunter Lee Talley of Carmel, IN; Emilia Ann and Laine Marie Olesnavage of Chicago, IL; and Archer Jason Barrett of Torrance, CA. Feisty, strong, and beautiful, Barb brought joy and energy to every room. She had a passion for life that was infectious—always encouraging those around her to stop what you are doing and dance. Her warmth, wit, and wisdom made her a treasured mentor, friend, and the life of every gathering. An avid golfer, Barb continued to play in a league until the age of 90. She also loved cards, especially pinochle and euchre—spending countless happy hours playing cards with family and friends and in card clubs. Casinos held a special place in her heart, as did her favorite treat: soft chocolate ice cream topped with potato chips—a family tradition she happily passed down. Barb shared many adventures with her husband, including motorcycle trips and cheering him on during ice racing events on Lake St. Clair...even while their young son, Dennis, proudly rode in the sidecar. Barb was cool, fun, and truly a pleasure to visit with. She lived her life fully and taught us all to do the same. She will be deeply missed and forever celebrated. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM (Family Hour: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM) at Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors, 8459 Hall Road, Utica, MI. A second visitation will take place Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by the Funeral Service at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow. Interment will be at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery, 621 W Long Lake, Troy, MI, with a graveside service at 2:00 PM.
